COMING SOON, A RESEARCH PROPOSAL LIKE NO OTHER: THE BLACK EXPERIENCE IN THE UNITED STATES.
Around the world people use art, media, and literature to pay respect to the traditions they hold dear. Society is filled with artistic work that reflects the interworking’s and thoughts of different cultures. Collectively they become treasures that tell future generations about the beliefs, values, and experiences shared by groups.
What stories will you leave behind? Will future generations know the beauty of the black American culture? They will if you join me in this unprecedented endeavor to explore the black experience in the United States. The results will yield a collection of written work that reflects the attitudes, beliefs, and rich cultural experiences of black Americans. Every aspect of black life will be studied. We began with the current era and travel backwards. The people of today offer the greatest window into the past. Their knowledge will be essential in building this historic platform.
It is divided into three phases. Each one is essential to the whole. It will rely on research grounded in the scholarly practices introduced in the Universal Sociology Lesson Plan. This is significant because the information will rest on principles that are trustworthy and reliable. Many aspects of black society are excluded from academic research. This ongoing project will change this. There are so many great things to learn and leave behind. It is a huge endeavor that will take time to complete. It has been strategically organized so that we can get straight to business.
PHASE 1
The Universal Sociology Lesson Plan, will play a pivotal role in making the endeavor possible. The content within the plan will prepare researchers for the project. College students who take research based courses, are of special interest. The goal is to push universities across the globe to participate. However, anyone interested can take part in the mission .
The project will start by capturing black attitudes on different subjects using survey research. Each survey focuses on some aspect of black life. The topics will be wide ranging. The surveys can be posted to all social media outlets. Every black person whose ancestry originates in the United States is included in the target population. The project will focus on people of all ages and backgrounds. Completed surveys will serve as our first set of written “artifacts”. Collective black thought is powerful and essential to portraying the black image.
Phase One is exploratory and descriptive and will extend over a 3-4 year period. There must be time to get people interested. There are a lot of subjects to cover. There will be things to iron out as we go along. In time, as surveys are completed valuable patterns will emerge. From this information we can use digital and print media to tell true stories of the black experience.
PHASE 2
In phase two, we begin to include more advanced research techniques. Here we focus on written or recorded sources that date back 100 plus years. The focus will be on artifacts like images, inventions, books, official records etc. Content analysis will be introduced. By the time we get to this phase, learners will be more knowledgeable on the scientific research process. The image of what blacks have contributed to the world will begin to emerge. Blacks have existed during all periods of America’s growth. They participated and an accurate portrayal of all of their contributions should be included in American history. When future generations know the greatness of their ancestors, it will give them the sense of pride they deserve.
PHASE 3
In phase 3 we turn to our most advanced research efforts. It will incorporate explanatory research. The concentration will be on the links between large scale systems and how they have impacted black society. From the studies we can begin to develop learning content that can be used for everyday educational purposes. What they unveil may help us see things differently and avoid some of the pitfalls of the past.
Research has played a major role in understanding humanity. Imagine being able to go to westudyus.com and have access to a pool of information you can trust. You can make this a reality. If you join me in this journey, you can help write black American history from, a black perspective.
The exact start dates and times the project will begin has yet to be determine. When the start date is established it will be posted on various social media outlets.
